In 2007 the Atlanta Falcons hired Bobby Petrino, the present University of Louisville’s football head coach, in an attempt to make Michael Vick a more disciplined quarterback. Unfortunately, Petrino never received actually got that opportunity with Vick becoming embroiled in the dog fighting case that landed him in prison for eighteen months soon thereafter. Petrino devoted his quarterback whispering skills to getting his star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, to not one but two Heisman nominations.
There was some speculation that Deshaun Watson’s exploits could serve to boost Louisville quarterback, Lamar Jackson’s, prospects. The quarterback set the nation on fire with his elusiveness and blazing speed. Jackson appeared to be the Usain Bolt of college football. Fans immediately compared the electrifying athlete to Michael Vick. Vick was gracious to the young athlete tweeting , “Lamar Jackson [five times] better than what I was at [Virginia Tech]….Enough said!! #future;”. an This is an extraordinary accomplishment compliment since the NFL hasn’t seen a more potentially gifted pro since Vick’s exploits in his heyday.
